NH48 is a four-lane highway for most of this route. Road quality is good throughout. Toll plazas are frequent. FASTag saves time at toll booths.
Groups stopping overnight in Jaipur can read our full Jaipur Force Urbania hire guide for local sightseeing and pickup options.
Why Not the Kota Route?
The Kota route via NH52 is 720 to 750 km. It adds 2 to 3 hours to the journey. It passes the Chambal River and has scenic sections. But for a family group trip, NH48 is faster and more comfortable.
Stop 1 - Neemrana (120 km from Delhi, approx 2 hours)
Neemrana is the first stop. The Neemrana Fort Palace is a 15th-century fort visible from NH48. Stop here for breakfast. The stretch from Delhi to Neemrana crosses the Delhi-Jaipur industrial belt. Getting past this stretch early morning keeps the rest of the drive smooth.
We have a full guide on the Delhi to Neemrana route by Urbania if your group wants to spend more time here.
Stop 2 - Jaipur (268 km from Delhi, approx 5 hours)
Jaipur is roughly the halfway point. Groups wanting sightseeing can spend a full day here. For a direct trip, stop for lunch for 1 to 1.5 hours and continue. The Jaipur bypass avoids inner-city traffic if you are not stopping.
Stop 3 - Ajmer or Pushkar (402 km from Delhi, approx 7 hours)
Ajmer has the Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, one of the most visited shrines in India. Pushkar, 14 km from Ajmer, has the only Brahma temple in India and the Pushkar Lake. Both are close to NH48.
If your group wants a dedicated Pushkar trip, see our Delhi to Pushkar road trip guide. Groups with religious or cultural interest should plan 1 to 2 hours here.
Stop 4 - Nathdwara (590 km from Delhi, approx 9.5 hours)
Nathdwara is often skipped in road trip guides. It should not be. The Shrinathji Temple here is one of the most important Vaishnava temples in India. It sits just off NH48 and requires a 30 to 40 minute stop. The town also has traditional pichwai painting workshops that are worth a short visit.
Arrival in Udaipur
After Nathdwara, Udaipur is 48 km. The approach road passes the Fateh Sagar Lake area.

The 12 Seater 1x1 Luxury Maharaja Urbania has recliner seats that adjust in three ways: backrest angle, headrest height and footrest position. A standard pushback seat reclines 15 to 20 degrees. A Maharaja recliner goes to 45 degrees. On a 10 to 12 hour drive, this difference matters for older passengers and children.
Each seat has an individual AC vent. There is a WiFi unit in the cabin. There are USB charging points at every seat. An icebox is included in Maharaja models.

A Force Urbania can take your group to Kumbhalgarh and back in a day. Check available vehicles and rates before booking. A Force Urbania day trip from Udaipur covers it easily.
If you did not stop at Nathdwara on the way, a day trip from Udaipur takes about 1.5 hours each way. The Shrinathji Temple and the pichwai art workshops in the town are worth the visit.
October to February is the best season. Temperatures stay between 10 and 28 degrees Celsius. Roads are in good condition. November brings the Pushkar Fair near Ajmer if timed for a stop.
March to May is warm but manageable. The Urbania's individual AC vents make a difference over vehicles with single-zone cooling.
June to September is monsoon. Roads on the Aravalli sections near Ajmer can be slippery. If travelling in monsoon, start by 4:30 AM to reach Udaipur before afternoon rain.
Book at least 48 hours before travel. For Diwali, Holi and New Year weekends, book 7 to 10 days in advance.
